About MNA
The Mueller Neighborhood Association (MNA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan grassroots organization that builds community through community events, activities, advocacy and outreach. MNA is separate from the Mueller Property Owners Association (POA), which manages and maintains Mueller properties.
A clear community vision emerged in 1984 for converting the Robert Mueller Municipal Airport into a compact pedestrian-oriented mixed-use community, with six guiding principles: fiscal responsibility, economic development, East Austin revitalization, compatibility with surrounding neighborhoods, diversity and affordability, and sustainability.
2026 MNA Steering Committee
The Steering Committee oversees MNA’s operations, activities, events and fundraising. The committee seeks input from community leaders and MNA members, sets goals and priorities, and ensures all activities align with MNA’s mission and vision. Committee members also represent MNA to other entities such as the Mueller POA, nearby neighborhood associations, and city and county elected officials, departments and services. Steering Committee members are elected by the membership.
MNA Bylaws
MNA members adopt bylaws to govern the Steering Committee and MNA’s operations and activities. The Steering Committee reviews the bylaws periodically and may propose changes for approval by MNA members. The current bylaws were approved on 10/19/2024.
MNA Standing Committees
MNA bylaws create 10 standing committees and one special committee and identify each committee’s duties. Learn more about MNA committees, what they do and how you can become a committee member. Help plan, lead and support MNA events, activities, initiatives and operations by joining one of MNA's standing committees. Interested? MNA Statement of Diversity and Inclusion
The Mueller Neighborhood Association (MNA) strives for diversity and inclusion for all members of our community — residents and visitors alike. We will foster a community that respects the unique attributes and perspectives that make each of us who we are. MNA is committed to building and maintaining an intentionally welcoming, affirming and safe neighborhood for everyone — especially those who have previously been denied opportunities to fully participate in our community — including people of any age, ethnicity, education level, gender, gender identity, homeownership status, immigration status, language, nationality, parental status, physical, mental and developmental abilities, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, shape or size, skin color and socioeconomic status. By valuing our diversity and developing a purposefully inclusive environment, Mueller can achieve a higher level of connectedness while preserving the best that each of us has to offer.
MNA Vision Zero Statement
The Mueller Neighborhood Association (MNA) is committed to achieving Vision Zero for all who travel within the Mueller community — residents, visitors and commuters alike. By valuing the safety and wellbeing of every individual and developing a purposefully proactive and protective environment, Mueller can achieve a higher level of connectedness while ensuring everyone can travel through the neighborhood safely and confidently. MNA envisions and will work towards a future where no one is killed or seriously injured on Mueller streets.
To achieve Vision Zero, MNA will:
Foster a community that prioritizes safety, accessibility and equitable mobility for all modes of transportation, including walking, transit, biking, rolling and driving. MNA is dedicated to building and maintaining an intentionally safe, calm and predictable neighborhood for everyone — especially those who are most vulnerable on the roadways. This commitment extends to all people.
Actively prioritize safety improvements based on data and best practices in traffic safety. This means advocating for and supporting initiatives like safer crosswalks, protected bike lanes, traffic calming measures, and safer speed limits, both within Mueller and on the connecting thoroughfares that impact Austin residents' daily lives.
Collaborate with the Mueller Property Owner’s Association (POA) and other entities such as the City of Austin to further Vision Zero goals.
