In a community whose architecture has often been described as too “beige,” there is a growing trend toward adding bright hues and bold color combinations to older homes and new construction alike.

West of Berkman , freshly painted doors welcome visitors with rich shades of yellow, chartreuse, lavender, and royal blue. One well-known residence seems to generate its own sunshine, while its immediate neighbor reflects blue skies regardless of the actual weather.

East of Berkman, builders are making playful choices to enliven the exteriors of new row houses.
