November 12 Meeting Minutes

Ann Hart Meeting/Meeting Minutes

Minutes of the Mueller Neighborhood Association (MNA) General Meeting

November 12, 2022

The hybrid meeting was called to order at 10:05am by Vice Chair Shelly Baldwin.  The meeting was recorded.

Steering Committee (SC) Members present:  Shelly Baldwin, Joy Butler, Erin Gaines, Brett Hall, Ann Hart, Mary Ellen Mondi, Koreena Malone, Josh Rudow, Jason Sears, Sarah Seraj, and Marta White, ex officio

The first order of business was the election of new Steering Committee Members.  Nominations Committee member Andrew Clements introduced the nominees and gave them each the opportunity to tell a little about themselves.  Nominees were Brett Hall, Jennifer Jardin, Greg Keller, Meisha-Ann Martin, Chris Ruzin, Sarah Seraj, Sherri Taylor, Preston “Ty” Tyree, and Chris “Kaz” Wojtewicz.  There were no nominations from the floor.  Andrew and Shelly gave instructions for voting in person and on-line.  Ballot counters excused themselves to count ballots in private while the meeting continued.

Sarah Seraj introduced Bryce Layton from Google Fiber who provided background on the company and its presence in Mueller.  Google Fiber prides itself on simplicity, speed, and reliability.

Kathy Sokolic and Koreena Malone shared history of Mueller’s newsletter, The Front Porch Flyer.  They are working with a potential publisher to restart home delivery to help strengthen our community.  Kathy encouraged neighbors to contribute articles and photos once the FPF is up and running again.

Treasurer Jason Sears shared and explained several financial documents:  the Balance Sheet as of August 31st; the Profit and Loss Statements for September and October; and the Balance Sheet as of October 31st. The MNA closed that period with a total equity of $18,300.62 which puts us in a strong position to start 2023.

Shelly rejoined the meeting after the ballot-counting.  Brett, Jennifer, Greg, Meisha-Ann, Chris, Sarah, Preston, and Kaz were all elected to the Steering Committee.  They will begin their two-year terms in January 2023.

Shelly presented and explained the proposed changes to the MNA bylaws for members to vote on and then responded to numerous questions.  Ultimately, Koreena moved that the members present vote on the changes to the bylaws as presented.  Jason seconded. Discussion ensued.  Then Matteo made a substitute motion to table the vote on the bylaws.  Motion was seconded and further discussion followed.  The motion to table the vote on the bylaws passed.

Micheal Jones reported on the Mueller Commission.  The commission’s next meeting is November 15th at the City of Austin Permitting and Development Center.  Topics are affordable housing and transition issues.  This is the Commission’s last meeting of the year.

Joe Denton shared highlights from the annual meeting of the Mixed-Use Property Owners Association.  Kathy Sokolic was re-elected and a resident slot was approved for the Master Board.  We now have a dedicated landscape manager for the development and Joe has a positive impression of him, so far.

Koreena reported that both the Fall Fest and the fall garage sale went very well.

Next Steering Committee meeting is Wednesday, December 7th and the next General Meeting is Saturday, January 21st

The meeting adjourned at 12:15 am.

Respectfully submitted,

Ann Hart, MNA Secretary
