Mueller’s 11th Annual Fourth of July Parade was another huge success! It was hot as usual, but this year we had a little relief with some cloud cover. Mueller Neighborhood Association Steering Committee members Bill Berman and Bill Kirwin planned the largest Fourth of July event to date!
Before the parade, neighbors decorated bicycles with the promise of prizes and bragging rights. The “Statue of Liberty” took home the prize for best costume.
The parade marched from Paggi Square down to Ella Wooten Park for the festivities. AFD brought an engine to escort the group, which included our local firefighters and Austin District 9 City Councilperson and Mayor Pro Tem Kathie Tovo. The Boss Street Brass Band led the parade and followed up with a danceable set at the festival that kept everyone on their feet. Mayor Steve Adler praised Mueller for their community-building efforts and posed for photos with supporters.
Events like these need neighbors. Volunteers and friends showed up in droves to help set up and tear down the event. A big thank you to all of those folks, as well as our neighborhood sponsors. Local business sponsorships help pay for a significant portion of the neighborhood events and community-building activities, and it couldn’t be done without them!
